Features and Specifications Analysis
30-Degree Nanotech Blades:
To be fair, the blades of Panasonic ES-LA63AA Arc4 are among the best that there are.
The blades are forged and honed to an acute 30-degree cutting edge to give you a very efficient cutting action.
The head of the razor, as the name suggests, ARC4, is made out of four cutting elements with outer blades.
The outer two are the typical blades that oscillate behind a foil screen and are the main reason behind the bulk shaving action.
The middle ones are integrated into the foil and work together with the outer ones to give you an efficient shaving experience.
Mechanics of Blades:
On the inside of the shaving head, it has two foils that catch and cut the hair, which falls through the outer blades.
When you turn on the shaver, the inner two blades engage and catch the finer hair.
The upper ones are designed to shave thicker and longer stubble hair.
With this mechanical design, you don’t have to return to the areas after the initial shave as it eliminates most of the hair and gives you a smooth shave.
Four-Blade Nanotech System:
The Panasonic ES-LA63AA Arc4 is built with four patented nanotech blades that sit outside the foil.
There are two inner blades that side the razor, which is designed with a special coating that makes them twice as sharp as the standard blades.
The system captures and holds the hair to deliver a cleaner cut at the follicle’s base.
Being stainless steel and hypoallergenic, the shaver provides a closer and more comfortable shave for any skin type without causing any kind of irritation.
People with sensitive skin tend to experience razor burn and itchiness even if they use razors marketed towards men with sensitive skin.
Battery Life:
The Panasonic Arc4 has Lithium-Ion Rechargeable batteries, which make charging very easy.
In about an hour, the razer can be fully charged and provide enough power for about forty-five minutes of usage.
This might not seem anything out of the ordinary, just a normal battery life you would expect from a quality shaver.
An important thing to note is that the razor should not be left plugged in for more than one hour, as doing so repeatedly will affect the battery’s performance in time.
Like most electric shavers for wet shaving, you can not use the Panasonic ES-LA63AA Arc4 while charging it. It’s a safety precaution, and this should not be considered a negative aspect, especially since the shaver has a five-minute quick charge option.
Wet and Dry Shaver:
The Panasonic ES-LA63AA comes with Wet/dry shaving technology.
The shaver allows you to have quick dry shaves and also a refreshing wet shave with shaving cream, gel, foam, soap, or water.
LCD Display:
The built-in LCD display shows the remaining battery percentages when it reaches increments of percentage and the shave’s duration in minutes and seconds.
This comes to great help when you are about to start shaving.
It is made with an automatic voltage conversion to adapt to any voltage between 100-240 volts which comes in handy when traveling abroad.
Pop-up Timmer:
Worried about your sideburns? You don’t have to.
Yes, the Panasonic ES-LA63AA Arc4 does come with a pop-up trimmer at the back of the shaver.
When you want to use it, just pop it up, which is good for the sideburns around the ears and the mustaches.
Even your mustache and your neck hair to get rid of it.
Shaving with Power:
The Panasonic ES-LA63AA Arc4 might be lightweight, but the razor packs a powerful punch.
It is built with Panasonic linear motor drive, delivering 13,000 cuts per minute.
Yes, that is a lot more than the standard razors in the market today, which run at around 8,000 to 10,000 cuts per minute on average.
This extra power gives you a closer and smoother shave without tugging or pulling your hair or skin.
The power of the motor combined with the flexible pivoting shaving head.
This means that the razor can be moved in a circular motion as it glides over to your chin, neck, jaw, and face.
If that is not enough power feature for a razor, Panasonic Arc took power to the next level.
The shaver can maintain peak battery life power until the end of the charge.
Unlike other shavers, which slow down and start to shave unevenly as the battery drains out.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
This shaver does not have a cleaning station to clean it automatically.
However, as being waterproof and easy to clean manually, you don’t need a cleaning dock for it.
As it is super easy to clean, you only need a bit of liquid soap and warm tap water to ensure proper cleaning.
The razor features Panasonic’s Turbo cleaning mode, which should be used when the faucet symbol displays on the LCD display.
Built Quality
The ergonomic design and the shape of the shaver make handling easier to manipulate for any user.
The razor is very lightweight at only 6.2 ounces or approximately 176 grams.
The head of the razor is loaded with springs, allowing it to tilt along the facial contours.
And if you want to restrict the head movement, it can easily be switched to the locked position.
The manufacturer suggests replacing the outer foil after every six months.
The foil actually lasts much longer than six months because the cord is just a straight cord, and it isn’t really coiled.
Performance
The most important part of all is the actual shaving performance.
The Panasonic ES8243AA Arc4 electric shaver is advertised as a one-pass shaver.
But in reality, you will find that there isn’t a thing like that, but that does not mean it’s bad.
It will still deliver an excellent shaving experience.
The four-cutter shaving head can cover large areas very quickly.
It’s built-in powerful motor and sharp blades make the razor one of the most capable electric shavers in this price range.
The closeness of the shaver with your skin will satisfy almost anyone being on par with what you will get from much more expensive shavers.
People with coarse facial hair will benefit from powerful motors and sharp blades.
A pre-electric shaving lotion will improve the comfort and performance of the shaver and will also help straighten the hair to stay flat on your skin.
Unlike other brands, the Panasonic shaver does not get clogged with shaving creams; you can easily rinse it with water if needed.
The pop-up trimmer works like a charm for basic grooming.
But a problem that occurs is the placement of it. The shaving head is so big that it becomes difficult to see what you are doing.
Pros
- Powerful motor.
- Efficient shaving blades.
- Wet/dry shaver.
- 100% washable.
- Popup trimmer.
- Inexpensive.
- Pivoting head.
Cons
- Bulky design.
- Inconvenient power button.
- Not good for a longer beard.
Verdict
For men with medium to coarse facial hair, the shaver works really well for daily shaving.
If you suffer from post-shaving irritation or razor burn, the Panasonic ES-LA63AA is a viable option if you use it with shaving cream.
Undoubtedly, it is a great all-around performer for both dry and wet shaving and gives you your full money’s worth.
Finding other foil shavers in this price range that perform better than this one is hard.
